The International Academy offers tremendous educational services to its students, through the delivery of the International Baccalaureate curriculum in a supportive and caring atmosphere since 1996. It has been ranked in the top ten public high schools in the United States by Newsweek Magazine since 2003. Virtually every IA student earns the Merit Scholarship based on MEAP scores. All students are college bound, and many IA grads go on to receive post-graduate degrees as well.

The IA is a consortium of twenty one member districts with two locations, IA Central in Bloomfield Hill and IA West in White Lake . It will soon be opening a third site in Troy , called IA East. Due to its consortium structure and inconsistent state funding, the IA must seek ways to stabilize its financial position. The State of Michigan does not provide consistent cost of living increases, and per-pupil spending does not meet cost increases due to inflation. Also, the consortium members provide different levels of funding based on the financial structure of each sending district. Furthermore, the cost of the IB program is greater than the traditional high school curriculum. The IA offers a longer school year, and courses that are all at the honors level.

Partners in International Education has been created to help the International Academy become a financially sound and stable school, that will serve its students consistently now and in years to come. Money raised by PIE will be used to offset costs of teacher training, purchase needed capital equipment and technology, and to assure access for students from all its member districts. Funds donated by families in each campus will be spent on the needs of that campus, so parents can be assured that their donation will directly help their son or daughter.

It is the goal of the International Academy for all families to participate as “Partners” and donate $300 per year. If this is not feasible, we do ask that every family donate according to their ability.
