Partners in International Education (PIE) provides an important link between the business and educational communities. Businesses need an educated workforce that can meet the demands of the new global economy, and schools must be able to educate students to this new standard. PIE will work to increase access and availability of the international curriculum (IB) taught at all grade levels in the southeast Michigan region.
An important component to international business is the smooth transfer of international personnel in and out of the region. Research has shown that one of the most common causes of failed international transfers is the lack of suitable education for children of transferees. IB schools are a worldwide network that offers ease of movement among countries, as students can transfer between IB schools without jeopardizing their education, and the IB Diploma is highly regarded by universities across the world. Promoting the growth of IB schools in this region is an important goal for PIE and this increased access will support the development of international businesses.
